Mining EIA Review Checklist
The Mining EIA Review Checklist provides guidance on review criteria of EIA documents (content, format, and presentation. In some cases the legislation of the host country will provide the mandatory format of the Environmental Impact Assessment. Formats may differ from country to country, or organization to organization, but most have similar requirements in respect to the minimal content of an EIA. The EIA review should identify whether the host environment is adequately understood. There is also the need to check whether the report addresses the full range of proposed actions and activities that may adversely impact the environment. An EIA review will also consider the presentation of the EIA. A report should be clearly written; the ABC in journalism provides guidance: accuracy, balance, and clarity are important.

The detail of mine closure planning depends on the actual stage of the mine operation in the mine life cycle. Closure is not something to be considered only as a mine nears the end of its productive life. It begins with mine planning, and thereafter needs to be part of every aspect of the mine life cycle
